Overdraft Protection
Courtesy Pay
The Courtesy Pay Program is offered to members of BVCU with accounts in good standing. Courtesy Pay is a purely discretionary privilege that allows the temporary overdraft of your checking account should you experience circumstances or unforeseen expenses that cause you to be short on funds. Courtesy Pay gives you the peace of mind knowing that this extra layer of protection could save you the embarrassment and inconvenience of a returned check or declined electronic transaction. Courtesy Pay helps to prevent the additional fees charged to you by merchants for returned checks. With Courtesy Pay, items and transactions are eligible to be paid up to the established Courtesy Pay Negative Balance Limit of $500 (inclusive of fees). This is a fee-based program (click here for Fee Schedule), and should not be confused with other types of overdraft protection (such as an overdraft line-of-credit loan or automatic overdraft transfers from shares).

Overdraft Protection Loans
BVCU's Overdraft Protection Line of Credit offers convenience, competitive rates,and flexible terms. Plus, you'll have the reassurance that the funds to clear your checks are in your account when you need them.
- Term: Revolving
- Rate: Fixed rate of 18%.
You only pay interest on the amount that is used. The interest is calculated monthly on the unpaid balance. - Payments: Payment is calculated at 5% of the unpaid balance.
- Access: Member can access the loan by writing a check, or plastic card advance or a counter check.
- Payment options: Payroll deduction, automatic transfer (also known as periodic payment) or cash payments.
- Payment protection: We offer low cost credit life and disability insurance to members.
