IRA Shares and Certificates
Individual Retirement Account View Rates
All
members may be eligible to defer taxes by contributing to an Individual
Retirement Account (IRA) or Roth IRA. If neither you or your spouse are
covered by a Qualified Retirement Plan (QRP), you may each be eligible
to contribute up to $5,000 of earned income per year (you may invest an additional $1,000 per year if 50 years or older), to be invested
in an IRA Share Account or IRA Certificate.
The minimum balance for an
IRA Share Account is $25. IRA Certificate minimum is $500 and may be
invested for 6 months to 5 years; dividends are paid quarterly. Rollovers
and transfers from other institution’s IRA or QRP may be invested
in IRA Share Accounts or IRA Certificates to protect previous tax deductions.
