2007 Excellence in Lending Award
CONGRATS TO THE BVCU FIRST MORTGAGE DIVISION!
WINNER of the 2007 EXCELLENCE IN MORTGAGE LENDING AWARD:
BVCU was recently named the winner of the 2007 Credit Union Excellence in Lending Award for Mortgage Lending. The award was sponsored by CUNA Mutual Group and the CUNA Lending Council.
Credit Unions were evaluated on their mortgage lending stratetiges, programs, and financial performance. BVCU's First Mortgage Division won the award in the under $250 million in assets category.
Our entry was based upon the following:
In June 2006, Boulder Valley Credit Union’s First Mortgage Division adopted a strategy focused on home buyer education in order to promote responsible borrowing and home ownership. A large part of this focus was directed toward the first time home buyer. The mortgage lending market contains countless pitfalls for the consumer, and it is important that both our members and non-members in the markets we serve are armed with the information they need in order to protect themselves and make wise financial decisions.
Our strategy focused on these six distinct areas:
- Development of an Employer Assisted Housing Program (Targeting our Select Employee Groups)
- Introduction of Down Payment Assistance
- Promotion of Innovative Product Offerings (2/1 Buy Down Loans, My Community Mortgage)
- Educational Workshops (SEG and Community Based)
- Website Mortgage Center Development
- Staff Education (Freddie Mac)
